Who doesn’t associate Rosh Hashana with apples? This super easy recipe from Mrs. Raizelle Serebrowski, director of the Oorah Rebbetzins program, gives you a new way to add them to your menu.
Ingredients
Filling
- 5 apples, shredded
 - 3/4 cup sugar
 - 1/2 tsp. lemon juice
 - 1 tsp. cinnamon
 
Pastry Dough
- 3 cups flour
 - 1 cup sugar
 - 1tbsp. baking powder
 - dash of salt
 - 3/4 cup oil
 - 1 egg, slightly beaten
 - 1 tsp. vanilla
 
Mix pastry dough ingredients in a food processor, dry ingredients first. It will have a crumbly consistency. Press 3/4 of the dough into a 9×13 pan. Spread apple filling over the dough. Sprinkle remaining pastry crumbs over the apples.
Bake at 350 F for 30-45 minutes. Cool and cut into squares.
